Mensaje a jóvenes

En la inauguración de SES 2017 comenté (English version below Spanish version):

Hoy en día estemos aquí reunidos para dar inicio a la cumbre internacional de estudiantes en energía y continuar un interesante hito para la transición energética en este mundo globalizado. Lo que iniciaron un puñado de jóvenes hace menos de una década hoy en día es un movimiento internacional. Con la asistencia de jóvenes oriundos de los cinco continentes se podrán formar las redes de colaboración que tendrán la capacidad de transformar nuestro planeta y cambiar el paradigma hacia el desarrollo sustentable,
Este evento evidencia la importancia del empoderamiento de las personas jóvenes.
La historia de SES comenzó hace casi dos años cuando se acercaron Santiago, Jorge, Daniela y Ariel para plantearme su sueño de organizar la cumbre en el lejano 2017. Hoy ya llegó el día y después de que se sumaron Andrea, Alexia, Iván, Stefy y muchos muchos otros que han mostrado poseer entusiasmo y convicción para la realización de sus sueños y tenemos a la viviente SES 2017. Esta actitud, considero debe ser reconocida e imitada por muchos otros jóvenes. Para mi fue una super experiencia, dejarlos hacer, dejarlos equivocarse, dejarlos aprender y ser uno de los espectadores más cercanos me ha permitido tener confianza nuevamente en las personas. Debo ser claro, tener confianza en esta juventud con bríos, ideas definidas y luchando ya por la reconstrucción de un mundo devastado y agotado que les dejamos es fundamental para unfuturo con bienestar. En este grupo veo con profundo reconocimiento la participación equitativa de mujeres jóvenes decididas a cambiar la situación por medio de acciones colaborativas con sus compañeros varones demandando trato equitativo y ofreciendo también trabajo de calidad. La participación de las mujeres en el ámbito de la energía es una de las tareas pendientes que deja nuestra generación. Aunque debo reconocer que hoy, la participación de la mujer se ha incrementado. Para muestra dos situaciones recientes. En el Instituto de Energías Renovables de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México tenemos más mujeres que varones estudiando el doctorado y este fin de semana en una de las reuniones de la Red de Energía Solar de CONACyT participaron igual número de mujeres que de varones; con un detalle adicional, la edad promedio de las mujeres es menor. Esto augura un futuro diferente.
Esta cumbre también presenta datos interesantes sobre la participación de otros sectores sociales que han también han sufrido discriminación. Debo recordar que la falta de acceso a energía condena a la población a no poder acceder a un bienestar social. La accesibilidad a la energía otorga libertad, la posibilidad de seleccionar y concretar productos o servicios de intercambio que puedan desembocar en un desarrollo sustentable de las poblaciones.
Lo miembros de la generación del siglo pasado tenemos que tener la humildad para dejar que estos jóvenes hagan, hay que dejar hacer para que puedan aprender. La SES 2017 es un ejemplo de que lo pueden hacer y lo hacen. Por supuesto debemos mantener siempre la posibilidad de nuestra mentoría, pero debemos esperar su petición, ellos la considerarán valiosa cuando las condiciones o circunstancias las reclamen. También es importante que los jóvenes sobrepasen el reclamo hacia las generaciones de mayor edad para que puedan reconocer sus limitaciones y valorar las capacidades de los otros. Enmarcando estas acciones en el enfoque para trabajar en nuestras capacidades y no en nuestras limitaciones.
Felicito a estas personas jóvenes y estoy seguro que nuestra universidad les ofrece nuestras capacidades, seguro estoy de que
ustedes, en su conjunto, no tienen mis limitaciones.

At the opening of SES 2017 I commented:

Today we are here to kick off the International Student Energy Summit and continue an interesting milestone for the energy transition in this globalized world. SES started with handful of young people less than a decade ago and today is an international movement. With the assistance of young people from the five continents will be able to construct the collaboration networks that will have the capacity to transform our planet and change the paradigm towards sustainable development.
This event highlights the importance of the empowerment of young people.
The story of SES 2017 began almost two years ago when Santiago, Jorge, Daniela and Ariel contacted me to consider their dream of organizing the summit in the distant 2017. Today the day arrived and after that they joined Andrea, Alexia, Ivan, Stefy And many many others who have shown possessing enthusiasm and conviction for the realization of their dreams and we have the living SES 2017. This attitude, I think should be recognized and imitated by many other young people. For me it was a super experience, let them do it, let them be wrong, let them learn and being one of the closest spectators allowed me to have confidence in people again. I must be clear, to have confidence in this youth with brains, definite ideas and fighting for the reconstruction of a devastated and exhausted world, that we leave to them, is fundamental to have a future with well-being. In this group I see with deep appreciation the equitable participation of young women determined to change the situation through collaborative actions with their male partners demanding fair treatment and also offering quality work. The participation of women in the field of energy is one of the outstanding tasks left by our generation. Although I must admit that today, the participation of women has increased. To show two recent situations. In the Instituto de Energías Renovables of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México we have more women than men studying the doctorate and this weekend in one of the meetings of the Red de Energía Solar of CONACyT participated as many women as men; with an additional detail, the average age of women is lower. This augurs a different future to our present.
This summit also presents interesting data on the participation of other social sectors that have also suffered discrimination. I must remember that the lack of access to energy condemns the population to not having access to social welfare. Accessibility to energy gives freedom, the possibility of selecting and specifying products or services of exchange that can lead to a sustainable development of populations.
The members of the generation of the last century must have the humility to let these young people do, we have to let them do so they can learn. The SES 2017 is an example of what they can do and actually do. Of course we should always keep the possibility of our mentoring, but we must wait for their request, they will consider it valuable when the conditions or circumstances claim. It is also important that young people pass the claim on to older generations so that they can recognize their limitations and value the capacities of others. Framing these actions in the approach to work on our capabilities and not our limitations.
I congratulate these young people and I am sure that our university offers them our abilities, I am sure that you, as a whole, do not have my limitations.
